I found a cool program for windows today. Now if you were disappointed that windows didn't include built in support for virtual desktops then this might be right up your alley. The program is called Yod'm 3D and as the name implies its a 3d desktop switcher. It works really well on my system but as the saying goes your milage may varry. But if you want to add the virtual desktop functionality it can't hurt to try.

You can find it at http://chsalmon.club.fr/index.php?en/Yod-m-3d-about

Oh that's awesome! By the way, the U.S.S. Reliant was a sweet ship, as all original Miranda-class starships are .

I have something similar to this for Firefox, it's either Tab Effect or Tab Mix Plus, which has the same effect when you switch tabs. Makes browsing the internet more fun!

Aye, the non-variant Miranda class. The variant ones got rid of the neato bracket on top.

Ooo, and I also see Morrowind hiding on the desktop there :). That's another good game!

That went really off topic, really fast.

Anyways, I've found tonnes of these types of programs over at www.crystalxp.net under the gallery then software. They provided almost everything I used to convince my aunt (an MS dev) that I was running Vista on my XP machine.

I have a little tutorial here (although most of you seem to be lucky enough to actually have Vista...)

I have run my computer through so much altering software it must be ready to fall apart

Let's see, LogonStudio, Bootskin, Windowblinds, that about covers it for me for alteration software. And we'll see if I actually pay for Windowblinds before the 60 days run out...

Darn it, now you've got me wanting to find a cool Star Trek desktop like that...

Love the app Ant - looks like my Beryl install on Linux :)

Btw, I gotta say I really like the Intrepid Class ships.

Oh I have that, have had it for quite some time now . And I couldnt' decide what wallpaper to use, so I downloaded Winwall, which is a free program that automatically cycles through a user-defined set of wallpapers and chooses a new one :). I have a mixture of dolphins, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, and Star Trek in the lineup.

I hate WB

I use shell packs because they don't slow down my computer.

So right now I use:

RocketDock
Crystal Clear Brico Pack
UberIcon
Visual Tooltip
YODM
Yahoo Widgets

And I used to run

Object Dock
BootSkin
LogonStudio
WindowFX
VistaCG Visual Style
Vista Inspirat Brico Back
Thojoose's Vista Sidebar

I can't resist a good windows mod

Ooo, an alternative to WB! Tell me more, tell me more! And what do those other fun things do?

RocketDock- It's like the little dock in Mac OS X. Cool and free.
Crystal Clear Brico Pack- CrystalXP Brico packs are free shell modifiers that work wonders and don't slow down your computer. They're easy to install and uninstall, and they don't sloow your computer down. This pack comes with UberIcon, RocketDock and Yz's Shadow (which gives windows a shadow background)
UberIcon- Gives cool effects to icons.
Visual Tooltip-Similar (almost identical) to a version made by Microsoft as an XP PowerToy, if you click the right buttons it gives you the exact effect of Vista's little rollover things it does with the task bar.
Yz's Shadow- Gives shadows to windows and transparency to tooltips and menus. Very customizable.
YODM-as mentioned above
Yahoo Widgets

Right now I'm actually running a Mac OS X MSvisual style on top of the brico pack (the brico pack made my computer look like a cross between Linux and Mac). Literally, all you need to do to run an MSVS is double click.

I use a site called CrystalXP (www.crystalxp.net) which has tonnes of styles and stuff, all free and safe. All you need to do is go to the gallery and look through their inventory.

Title: Yeah. That's how I roll.
Well, here's what I pulled off:

Image

I used some of Lego's tutorial (except for a few items where I didn't like what they did) and dug out an old wallpaper I've had for a while.

EDIT: Fixed link
