Thanks, Szark! I had an excellent day - spent most of it at a car show, the weather was great, and then we had a nice birthday dinner at home with the in-laws over. All in all, a good'n!
Mowog

It is nice to hear that someone really had a nice day on their birthday. I haven't been to a car show since I left NZ, 18 years ago, hmmm those were the days. Yes Mowog it sounded like a good day indeed. Szark

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->I haven't been to a car show since I left NZ, 18 years ago, hmmm those were the days.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Yep, I've always been something of a "petrolhead," with most of my interest lying with British sports cars. I own a '78 MG Midget, and have shown it quite a bit since I bought it in '95. I do all my own wrench (spanner) work, which is a big part of the fun. We usually do the annual All-British Car Show, organized by the local MG club, but the event on my birthday was a general sort of get-together at one of the high schools in town. My little MG was parked alongside a '62 Cadillac. Now THERE'S a contrast. Huge fun, though! BTW, the name "Mowog" has its origins in some obscure MG folklore. Cheers, Mowog

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Yep, I've always been something of a "petrolhead,"<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Snap. Oh Mowog stop it I am drolling. I always find that they look better black of british racing green, but thats just me I think. Thanks for sharing Mowog that bring back alot of memories. Big car show, rallies and kit car conventions. I started at 15 with a Mark One Ford Cortina. 1500 with a 1600 cross flow head, with bigger valves coupled with a stage 4 lumpy cam and twin sidedraft carby plus a few bits and pieces, I pulled 17 and half seconds down the 1/4 mile. Then I got myself a reliable runner (Datsun 180B) while I saved up for a Dodge 330 1964 with the standard 318 V8. Beautifull beast, push button automatic. Just as I nearly had all the money the deal fell through. He coundn't part with it. I don't blame him really do you? That was the end of my car dreams. Years later and now a closet petrol head I have a Nissan Micra 1300 Super sport and not by choice really either. Stuff of a shovel. The boy racer is still in me LOL. <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->My little MG was parked alongside a '62 Cadillac. Now THERE'S a contrast.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> I would prefer the MG these days, mind you I have aleways like them since my boss in NZ had a really old one. The typical red paint job. Now this was 27 years ago I would have a clue what model it was. I don't have a garage or any place where I could store or restore a project. Classics are the best, they don't make them like they used to. Mind you I probably couldn't hold a spanner (wrench) now. Take care Szark
