Wow, you make me want to contribute my 19" UltraSharp that just dropped off the end of my upgrade chain to you.
Alas, it went to my cousin who was retiring a used CRT that she's been suffering with.

Lol, I think it went to a better cause then. And don't mock my poor compy! It's going on it's seventh year and now that I have a better idea of how to do preventative maintenance I haven't had a problem with it in 2 years.
I've been considering upgrading my whole computer though. I like the printer and the speakers, and the screen, while not widescreen, works perfectly, but the compy itself only has PCI slots, so I'm pretty much stuck at a GeForce 6200, and it has only a 107 GB harddrive. There's just this little snag called $$$. I'd love to play Oblivion on a system worthy of it, but that's not at the top of my budget priorities right now.
Could use a bigger desk though... not enough room to do anything on it.
EDIT: Holy crap, after looking at the picture, I checked my top shelf, and sure enough, it has a list... not as bad as the picture makes it out to be, but yikes! Never liked this cheapo desk anyway...

At 7 years, you're on borrowed time. Computers are not guaranteed to work past 5 years (the normal 'shelf life' or 'unused time' that parts are good for). So, for your sake, I hope you have some manner of back up in place.
I understand that a new computer isn't in the budget right now, but if you build, you could build a better machine for far cheaper than you could buy.
Oblivion on a GeForce 6200!?!?! *faint*
Maybe what you really need is an X-Box 360 - a system guaranteed to play its games at the proper resolution / quality (minus any red rings of death )

Ewww... Blake has cassette tapes in his desk. SOOO analogue!
Yeah, and Blake, if Bert gets a pic of his desk with the tower o' pop cans, you'll see the monument to disorganization.

Currently the mountain has been replaced by: theater scene list, sunglasses, a watch, 3D glasses, empty package of peanuts, 2 reference books, sticky notes and a zero-sugar fanta can

Wow, people are still posting over here. Here are my work areas: This is the primary. This is the linux server, below it is the backup and that's my basement laptop. And this is my portable desktop. It's even more powerful than my main system. I can render on one and play on the other in the meantime.

I recognize that little Dell Inspiron laptop. I had one of those once upon a time... a 8200 I think it was.
Why are you so replete with machines? Are you trying to create the computer AI that takes over the world?

Yep, that old laptop is an 8200. I have a coworker interested in buying it, so I may end up parting with it. That's fine though because the Dell XPS has proven itself to be useful. Quote: Why are you so replete with machines? Are you trying to create the computer AI that takes over the world? I was going to do that... But all the other spambots kinda beat me to it. >_>
