Last night a planning committee was formed for the St.Pat's parade/party. Those present and who have graciously volunteered their time and energy are: Ti'chelle (UO hood)...Adam (UO hood)....Veralun (Dutch hood and representing TCT)....SuperGram (UO hood)....essjay (SafetyFirst hood)....Budgie (GoG hood)....Ural (GoG hood) and Mari (UO hood).....Those who were unable to attend but have also graciously volunteered their time and energy are: OldMan (UO hood).... Pali (German hood who will once again set up webcam) and Ivanova (TMP hood)....If I missed anyone, please let me know and I'll edit this post to include you.

The meeting was very successful and a great deal was covered with excellent suggestions presented....Much of the plans are similar to last years parade/party. The parade route will be the same as last yerar. However, what will be different this year will be the location of the event. The plan is right now to have the event on D'mala with the Event Shard as a backup. To have the event on D'mala there are some legal and technical questions that need to be discussed with Cyan as D'mala is an official Cyan and DRC shard. I will attempt to have a meeting with Cyan. I'm sure they will understand and give us all the help they can.

In addition, this year, because D'mala is one united shard, we will organize the marching units by hoods. The major and more populated hoods will be organized to form their marching unit. The less populated and singly owned hoods will be organized into a single or possibly more (depending on how many there are) miscellaneous marching units. Of course they are welcomed to march with one of the more populated hood of their choice. It was decided to set up a training hood to have one place to bring them all together. It is also suggested that march practice should be done on home shards so not to interfere with the activity going on in Ae'gura on D'mala. Perhaps a shard owner can offer his shard so the miscellaneous marching units can practice there.

This year we will only set up one party hood to act as a central party reception area, as D'mala already has many hoods. Each hood can party in their home hood and hood hopping will be encouraged.

The planning committee will be making rounds to all of the hoods to set up organizers there. It is my hope that all hoods will participated and help to make this years event a huge success.....I also feel it's a terrific way to promote Uru and show our support for Cyan.

As we will be visiting the non-English speaking hoods, we are looking for people that can speak other languages in addition to English, to act as interpretors. So far we have Veralun who speaks Dutch, French and Spanish....Adam and essjay who speak Spanish....We will ask Mucol and Pearlstern of the German hood to help translate for the Germans....Norfren to help with Hungarian....SadCrow to help with Swedish....(hope I got all that correct).....If anyone can help as interpretors please PM me or essjay here. As this years event is getting a late start...we need volunteers ASAP. We will be having a meeting for all of those from across the pond who wish to volunteer in any way and join the committee. IT WILL BE HELD ON D'MALA TOMORROW....WEDNESDAY....FEB. 22 AT 12PM EST. WE WILL MEET IN THE HOOD AND I WILL GIVE INVITES TO MY KEMO WHERE WE WILL HAVE THE MEETING. It's difficult to have it in my Relto as was done last night, because we cannot invite to Relto and I had to come back to the hood when someone crashed. I think it will be easier to have the meeting in the Garden age. So please anyone from Europe or other parts of the world, come join us and help make this event truly international...under one home world.....D'ni....

So come on everyone get out the green and lets start working together to make this the greatest event in the history of Uru/UU....And remember...you don't have to be Irish to participate. Here on the surface in NYC...everyone is Irish on St. Pat's day.....

I like the idea of organizing the parade by 'hoods! It could work something like the parade of athletes before the Olympics, and while we can't carry flags, perhaps each hood could choose a color of shirt or something so that the groups will be distinguishable when the parade goes by.

This should be excellent!

As seen above there will be 4 host hoods where the parade will march. ALL OTHER HOODS ARE INVITED TO MARCH AS A GROUP REPRESENTING THEIR HOOD WITH ANY OF THE HOST HOODS OF YOUR CHOICE. Everyone in the cavern is welcomed to join in this great event. Please contact that hood and they will be happy to have you join them. You can contact:

Music and Sound will be coordinated by Modi and LCC who will be moderating the March Music and all channels on TeamSpeak. Lord Chaos and Eirerogue will DJ all party music throughout the day and night along with LCC. We hope to have entertainment from some of the caverns most talented singers and musicians which LCC will provide. Anyone wishing to entertain in this way can send a recording to Modi or LCC or volunteer to sing live during the party. I have also asked if it's allowed to play Myst soundtrack during the party and have been told it's okay...So I'll ask Modi and LCC if they'd like to set up a channel with the soundtracks for those explorers who would like to llisten to it and for their enjoyment.

Press coverage will be by The Cavern Today CCN Podcast Productions. So if someone approaches you wearing a CCN Press Badge (CCN attached to their avie name) and they'd like to interview you, please be aware. TCT will also be about the cavern, during the parade and party taking videos and screenshots and will be available for viewing sometime following the event.

Pali64 will be setting up avie camermen throughout the cavern and supply webcam viewing throughout the event. TCT will host the webcam on their server. With webcam you will be able to view the parade and the party activities going on throughout the day and evening into the early hours.

Bad, Captain of the Guard has been coordinating the Honor Guard and conducting march practice and the duties of the HG. The HG will be marching with each host hood and escorting Rand and party throughout the parade. He has done a great job bringing the Honor Guard together for this great event and deserves our gratitude.

essjay once again wearing one of her many hat's will honor us by catering a great CornBeef and Cabbage dinner with all of the trimmings. Still trying to find out where she gets her supplies and how she gets them to the cavern....but I guess that's a trade secret....smile.gif Menu's will be posted on all host hood imagers including the Recption hood.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Following two meetings with the planning committee. One for the EST/PST/CST timezones and one for the Europe timezones, it was agreed that we would like to have a MARCH PRACTICE AND DRESS REHERSAL with all host hoods participating. It will also be a stress test in addition to an attempt to get a timeframe of how long the parade will take to move through all hoods and to get the logistics fine tuned. Everyone is asked to come in green and the costume of their choice. No set uniform is asked for except for the Honor Guard. So come as you like but wear green. Modi will be on hand to play the march music during the earlier dress rehersal and hopefully LCC will be available for the later rehersal. We ask spectators to also be available for either of the rehersals. We need to know how stressful it will be to the marchers with the presence of many spectators and how far back from the parade line the spectators should be, so not to cause undue lag to the marchers. The Parade Practice Dress Rehersal stress test will be held at 2pm EST and then again at 8pm on Thrusday March 16th. Please go to the host hood that you will be participating in during the actural event for the rehersal. I also ask that as many people that are available, to fill the shard in all ages. Feel free to link between all ages....We'd like to see what effect activity in other area has on the parade. We hope to at least try to make this event run as smoothly as technically possible...and to show Cyan and their potential backers just what this community is made of and what we can do when we pull together. So once again:

MARCH PRACTICE...DRESS REHERSAL....STRESS TEST....THURSDAY MARCH 16th at 2pm EST and 8pm EST....Please try to be available....We will be using TeamSpeak to coordinate.

I will be sending a list of complete instructions for the parade/party with the choreography of the march to each member of the planning committee. I have asked the host hood coordinators to send the instructions to those in their group, in addition to asking Bad, Ruby and Modi to do the same with their groups....

So come on everyone let's get ready tor one of the greatest events ever. Pass the word to any new explorers who have come to the cavern. They may not read the forums...and they are now part of this great community and we want them included in all the fun. Remember most of the crashes are on the client side. Prepare your computer by cleaning it up by:

Do a defrag...
Run spybot and anti-virus....
Increase your virtual memory to double....
Shut down any unnecessary programs you may have running....
Shut down any unnecessary Instant Messenger programs you have running..
Shut down any voice programs..such as Skype or Gizmo
In Task Manager...set your Uru priority to high in options....

All of the above help to make your computer run better while in cavern.

ONLY ONE DAY LEFT BEFORE THE 2nd ANNUAL D'NI ST. PAT'S PARADE AND PARTY!!!!!

TOMORROW....MARCH 18th ON D'MALA SHARD BEGINNING AT 12pm noon EST IN THE GERMAN REAL LIFE HOOD........

Yep.....tomorrow's the day for this great and historic event. Everyone is welcomed to participate, regardless of your country of origin. You don't have to be Irish to join in as this event is not specifically a celebration of St. Pat's day, but more important it's a celebration of D'mala. So get out the GREEN and lets have some fun.....

As I have said before, most lag is on the clients end. To help decrease the lag and crashes for yourself, get you computer cleaned and ready.

1. Defrag
2. Run Spybot to get rid of adware
3. Run your virus protection scan

5. Clean out all Recents in your KI
6. Get rid of any unwanted KI images you may have on your KI. The KI images you have taken will be in your Python folder...You can remove them and save elsewhere and delete all the pictures. KI images sent to you will need a special extraction patch....Perhaps someone here has a link to the patch as I do not.
7. Shut down any unnecessary programs you may have running
8. If you use instant messages...it's best to shut down all of them but if needed keep open the one that uses the least bandwidth...My MSN seems to use alot of bandwidth and processor
9. You can also increase the processor for Uru...with UU running, use the Ctrl/Alt/Del command and open your Task Manager...Click on Processes Tab....Scroll to find Uru.exe...Right click on it....Click on Set Priority...Then set on High.....
10. Uru uses up alot of virtual memory...You can increase you virtual memory to double your RAM....Click on My Computer....click on Control Panal....click on Performance & Maintenance...click on System....click on Advanced Tab....click on Performance - Virtual effects etc. Settings Button.....click on Advanced Tab....click on Virtual Memory - Change button....Now double you Initial Size (MB) and double your Max Size (MB) click ok.

I hope all of these suggestions helps you to have less difficulty during the event. If anyone has other suggestions to add please feel free to post to this thread. However, we will still experience lag and possible crashes with a high population no matter what we do...But please do your best to try to come back.

When in areas where there is a population over 8 to 10 there will be difficulty with text chat. Only those within your range will be able to read what you are saying. Please don't think you are being ignored, it's just that others who are out of your range will not see your text. So in this case with a population over 10 please everyone use the /shout command.

The St. Pat's Parade/Party planning committee has worked very hard to bring this event about and it would be in remiss to not mention them and offer my personal thanks.

St. Pat’s Parade/Party Instructions

Saturday March 18th
Beginning at 12pm noon EST

Parade will march through 4 selected host neighborhoods, beginning with the German Real Life Hood ending in a 5th hood the Parade/Party Reception Hood in the Community Room. All Host Hoods are encouraged to invite the remaining hoods to march along with them. All hoods marching will be announced over TeamSpeak and are encouraged to select a Host Hood of choice and ask to march along with them.

Host Hoods In Order of Parade March:

1. German Real Life Hood
2. Guild of Greeters Hood
3. The Meeting Place Hood
4. UruObsession Hood
5. End point….Reception Hood Community Room with Rand and Party on the platform by the pedestal…..

1. Parade begins at 12pm noon EST….German Real Life members, Honor Guard, Spectators and guest hoods should get there at least a half hour to an hour early to set up and be lined up at the start point by the time Rand and Party link in. This is important because the hood will be made private once the parade begins and is in progress. Guests will not be able to get to the hood and members are requested on their honor, not to link back until the parade has reached the end point in the hood. If they crash, they can go to Reception Hood or a hood of your choice. They will be able to view the rest of the parade on webcam.
· The hood coordinator will assign a volunteer member to be in the nexus to make the hood private after Rand links in and before the parade begins. It would be advisable that this member be a spectator and should be given enough time to return to the hood and take his/her place. The hood can be made once again public when the parade has reached the finish mark. This procedure should be done in all hoods. THE REASON FOR THIS TO ELIMINATE LINK IN FREEZE WHILE THE PARADE IS IN PROGRESS……….
· When the parade reached the finish point there will be a 10 minute delay to allow enough time for the CCN Press people, Photographers and webcam cameramen to move to the next hood before Rand moves on to the next Host Hood which should be set up and in place by the time he links in. I ask that, (other then those listed above) you please remain in the hood and do not link to the next hood, so not to over populate the next Host Hood or cause link crashes for Rand with so many linking at the same time. Once the parade has reached the end point, you can either remain in your home hood, visit other hoods or come to the Parade/Party Reception Hood. Hood hopping is encouraged.
· All Host Hoods should send Hood Invites to Rand and Party.
o Note: Following a brief chat with GreyDragon the only confirmed Cyanists to attend are Rand Miller, GreyDragon and Moke

2. Honor Guard will be near the link-in spot prepared to escort Rand and Party up the right staircase to take their place in front. The Honor Guard will fall in place behind Rand and Party. Rand will then lead the parade through the hood along the chosen path as shown on the attached map. The parade concludes by going up the right staircase and ends at the top of the left staircase near the community room. This procedure will follow through
The Honor Guard, having finished the march in their assigned hood will then
link to the Parade/Party Reception hood and take their place on either side of
the platform by the pedestal in the community room. Two Honor Guard will
be assigned to escort Rand and Party to the platform.

2. The final destination of the parade will be the party Reception hood. Following link-in and line up by Rand and Party, they will proceed up the right staircase to the community room platform by the pedestal.
· Everyone in the Reception Hood is asked to please not go to the community room until Rand has reached the pedestal and keep his path clear. THE REASON FOR THIS IS TO NOT CAUSE RAND AND PARTY UNDUE LAG WHILE ON THEIR WAY TO THE COMMUNITY ROOM……Once Rand and Party have reached the platform, everyone is encouraged to go to the community room and meet with Rand and spread out through the hood in various places…..The party now begins. Have fun J

Because of an unexpected obligation on the surface, Modi will not be able to be present on the day of the parade to supply us with sound and music. However, he has asked LCC to take over for him and LCC has graciously accepted. Music and sound will be supplied through Tapestry TeamSpeak. LCC will play March Music during the parade and the DJ’s are asked not to play their music during the parade. Selections from our community entertainers will also be played by LCC during the party. I have asked Cyan if we are allowed to play Myst soundtrack music through TeamSpeak and was told it’s okay. From what I’m told Lord Chaos has already suggested his playing a mixture of Irish, modern and Myst. I have asked Modi to contact Lord Chaos. So TeamSpeak can be downloaded free by going to: <a href="http://goteamspeak.com" target="_blank">http://goteamspeak.com</a> the Tapestry address is: shard.urutapestry.us Lord Chaos and Eirerouge will also play music during the party all through the day and night on TeamSpeak. In addition to the music channels, Chat channels will be available along with Host Hood coordinator channels and a private committee coordinator channel.

Pali64 will once again set up cameramen through out the cavern so that everyone will be able to view the Parade/Party through webcam hosted by The Cavern Today.

The Cavern Today will be once again covering another great event and will be taking video and pictures throughout the event. So if someone approaches you with a press pass using CCN in front of his or her avatar name, you’ll know that it’s the press. Several other free-lance photographers will also be present throughout the hoods.
